App Set Up & Permissions

Accepted Answer

The first time you download our App, it will ask for your permission to access your Camera, Photos & Microphone. It is ESSENTIAL you select "OK" for Access to Camera & "Allow Access to All Photos" in order to save all your underwater footage to your Photos. Please follow the app permissions below so your app will perform as expected.

*BATTERY SAVING TIP*
Our App will also ask to access Location Services to add locations to your saved footage. To save battery on a long day out, you can remove our App's permission to access your Location Services (in your iPhone's Settings > ProShotCase).

Question 3

How to Control the App with your Volume Buttons

When your camera screen is open within the app, you can control it entirely with your phone's volume buttons:

Press volume (-) to cycle between modes. 
Press volume (+) to activate the mode you're in (take a picture, start/stop a video, etc.).
Long-press either volume button to zoom in and out, all the way to your wide-angle lens. You must be in an Action Mode to zoom in and out.

Before you use the app for the first time in the water, we recommend playing around with it above water to familiarize yourself with it!

ProShotCase Camera App Modes

The ProShotCase app provides access to the following camera modes: Photo, Video, Dual Video Capture, Slow-Motion, Timer, Timelapse, Burst, and Selfie Cam, plus it allows zooming (digitally and optically) and ultra-wide angle camera access. In addition, there's a Sleep Mode that helps save your phone's battery while in use, and a Gallery Mode that allows you to see your recent footage underwater.ACTION MODES:Most of the Camera Modes within the app capture footage, we call these "Action Modes". Action Modes that capture footage by pressing volume (+) include: Photo, Video, Dual Video, Slomo, Timer, Timelapse, and Burst. The camera button on the bottom of your camera screen will be RED when you're in an Action Mode, to remind you that mode will capture footage. -->SETTING MODES:The app also has two "Setting Modes". Setting Modes will adjust your camera settings by pressing volume (+), these include: Selfie Cam/Front Cam, and Sleep Mode. Setting Modes do not capture footage when activated with volume (+). The camera button on the bottom of your camera screen will be WHITE when you're in a Setting Mode, to remind you that mode will NOT capture footage. -->For zooming in and out within the app, long-hold either volume button while in any Action Mode. Please find more detailed instructions for zooming in and out further down in this drop down info section. *PROSHOT TEAM TIP*: To save time toggling between modes underwater, don’t turn them all on! Only activate the camera modes you plan to use on your next adventure > Within your ProShotCase App's Settings, go to 'Select Camera Modes' and choose which modes you'd like available for your next use.

Question 5

Zoom (+Optical Zoom) & Ultra-Wide Angle Functionality

When your camera is in an Action Mode (Photo, Video, Slomo, Timer, Timelapse, Burst), you can zoom in and out by long holding your volume buttons. You can zoom in and out before or during filming. ➕ LONG HOLD the Volume (+) button = Zoom in all the way to 5.0x in 1.0x increments➕ Once your zoom amount gets to 3.0x, your camera will switch to using the telescopic lens for optical zooming➖ LONG HOLD the Volume (-) button when zoomed in = Zoom out to 1.0x from any zoomed in amount➖ LONG HOLD the Volume (-) button in 1.0x = Zoom out to your ultra-wide angle lens Notes: The ultra-wide angle camera will only go to 0.7x (still using the ultra-wide angle lens). This is to stop the camera from capturing the inside edge of the case.Your zoom amount will remain when toggling between modes.The app will zoom in up to 5.0x only if your phone's camera has that capability. If your phone cannot zoom to 5.0x in its native camera app, the ProShotCase app will not either.Video demo for Zooming In:

Selfie Cam Mode - How to Take Selfie Footage

Within the app you will be able to take photos and videos with your selfie camera! "Selfie Cam" is a camera mode in the app that can be turned on and off in the app's Settings > Select Camera Modes. IMPORTANT NOTE: "Selfie Cam" is one of the app's "Setting Modes" that does not take footage with volume (+). When you activate "Selfie Mode" on your camera screen (with volume +), it ONLY changes the camera setting and flips the camera from front to selfie came. After switching to your selfie cam, YOU MUST toggle (click volume -) to an "Action Mode" (Photo, Video, Burst, etc.) to capture footage with your selfie cam. Step by step guide to take a selfie photo or video: First, make sure "Selfie Cam" mode is activated in your app's Settings > Select Camera ModesOn your camera screen window, cycle through your modes until you hover on Selfie Cam. Press volume (+) on "Selfie Cam" to activate your Selfie Camera -- you will see the screen flip to your selfie camera. IMPORTANT: Then, you must press volume (-) to switch to an Action Mode (photo, video, slo-mo, burst, timer, or timelapse) to capture footage. You'll see your selfie camera remain on while you toggle between modes. Press volume (+) in any Action Mode (photo, video, etc.) to take a selfie photo or video. You can zoom in and out to wide-angle while in your selfie camera as well, by long-pressing either volume button. You must be in an Action Mode to zoom in and out.To return to your forward facing camera, press volume (-) to toggle between modes until you hover on "Front Cam" mode, then press volume (+) to flip back to the forward camera.Continue to use the app as normal (volume (-) to toggle between modes, volume (+) to activate modes).

Dual Video Mode - Capture Two Perspectives at Once

Dual Video mode records both cameras simultaneously (your front and rear camera), letting you relive every underwater moment from two unique perspectives.How to Turn On Dual Video ModeAccess Dual Video in just a few taps, and choose the recording and saved video style that fits your adventure.
1. Open the app’s Settings by tapping the Settings icon in the top right corner of the ProShotCase app’s camera screen.2. Click Select Camera Modes > Toggle on Dual Capture Video.3. Back in the app’s Settings screen, click into the Dual Video Settings menu to view all available recording modes. Your saved footage will match your chosen recording layout.✓ Split Screen VideoRecord with your front and rear camera views stacked on top of each other, splitting the screen 50/50 across the middle. Your video will also save in this layout.✓ Picture-in-Picture VideoOverlay your selfie camera in a small movable window (similar layout to video calls) while your main camera captures the action in the entire screen. You can move the selfie camera window before and during filming (except while filming in a ProShot Dive Case). Your video will save exactly as you record it.✓ Save as Separate VideosRecord your Dual Video in Picture-in-Picture format, but save each camera view (front and rear) as its own video file, giving you complete flexibility when editing.

Question 8

Gallery Mode - See your Footage Underwater!

Gallery Mode allows you to see your recent photos and videos while underwater with just your volume buttons!

To use, first turn on Gallery Mode in your app's Settings > Select Camera Modes. On your camera screen, toggle to Gallery Mode with volume (-). As soon as you toggle to Gallery Mode, you'll see your most recent photo/video appear. Your recent photos and videos will automatically cycle every 3 seconds from one to the next, with most recent first.

In Gallery Mode, long-press volume (-) to skip to the next photo/skip the video, and long-press volume (+) to pause on that photo or mid video.

Toggle out of Gallery Mode by clicking volume (-).

Question 9

Sleep Mode - Battery Saver Mode

Sleep Mode is the app's Battery Saver Mode. When activated (by clicking volume (+)), it turns your phone's display and camera off to preserve battery life. Your phone will remain on and within the ProShotCase App while Sleep Mode is activated. When you're ready to use your app/camera again, just click either volume button and your phone will wake into your app ready to shoot. We recommend activating Sleep Mode during breaks between dives and long breaks between shots.

Underwater Mode (Only Needed for ProShot Touch Users)

*Only Needed for ProShot Touch Users when Filming Underwater*

When Underwater Mode is on, your iPhone's touchscreen within the app will be deactivated, making underwater filming much smoother. Water running over the case's touchscreen film acts like a hand constantly touching the phone's screen, making your phone react inaccurately to your touch and behave randomly. Underwater Mode will stop your iPhone from reacting sporadically underwater and allow you to control your app entirely with your volume buttons.

WHEN TO USE: 
Necessary to use with any ProShot Touch Case for all submerged filming (snorkeling, freediving, and open water diving). Underwater Mode is a setting found in the ProShotCase app.

WHAT IS UNDERWATER MODE:
It disables your touchscreen within the app to prevent water from randomly activating touch controls. When on, you must control your camera entirely with your volume buttons. The Settings icon in the upper right corner of our app's camera screen will remain clickable. You can still “swipe up” on your phone to switch apps and go to your home screen, using your phone/touchscreen as normal outside of our app. The camera button on the camera screen will appear with blue waves on it indicating you have Underwater Mode turned on.

To prevent your phone from unintentionally “swiping up” and leaving your ProShotCase app, turn on Guided Access through your iPhone's settings. You can find detailed info on Guided Access on our ProShot Touch Case instructions page.

Question 11

Bright Sun Mode (Helps you see your screen better in sunny conditions)

When Bright Sun Mode is on, a black bar will display behind the camera mode names on your camera screen to help you better see and read your screen. We recommend turning on Bright Sun Mode on bright sunny days, especially while snorkeling.

Bright Sun Mode is a setting that can be turned on and off in our app's Settings section.

RAW Photo - Advanced Settings for Photographers

You can enable RAW Photos through our app’s Settings > RAW Photos.RAW photos capture maximum detail for professional editing in apps like Lightroom. Files are much larger than standard photos - up to 75MB each at 48MP. Each shot saves as one photo with a shareable JPEG plus the full RAW file.
IMPORTANT: We only recommend using this setting if you’re an experienced photographer and understand how to edit your RAW photos before viewing them.

Photo Ratio Settings

Choose the aspect ratio for your photos before capturing your dive.
Open Settings (⚙️) in the ProShotCase Camera App.Tap Photo Ratio Settings.Select your preferred format:4:3 – Standard photo format with the maximum image area. Camera screen will have black bars above and below the photo while shooting.16:9 – Wide-format photos, ideal for landscape and cinematic compositions. Photo will fill entire camera screen while shooting.Your selected ratio will remain active until you choose a different option.

Customize Your Font Size

Make the ProShotCase Camera App easier to read by adjusting the interface text size to your preference. The font size will change the app’s camera mode names on the camera screen and the app’s setting text.Navigate to Settings → Font Settings and select the size that’s most comfortable for you.Your preference is automatically saved for future use.

ProShot Team's App Tips & Tricks - Recommended Phone & App Settings

As you may already know, the ProShot team is made up of a small group of divers and snorkelers. We absolutely love using all of our own gear on every underwater adventure. We've had the pleasure of using our ProShotCases hundreds of times, allowing us to figure out a couple of tips and tricks to help you get the best experience with our app and case. Below is a list of our most useful tips and tricks that we personally use every time we jump in the water with our ProShotCase.

iPhone Setting Tips:
We recommend putting your phone in Airplane Mode before each use to save battery and block distracting notifications. Make sure to turn Wifi off too so your phone doesn't actively search for a Wifi signal underwater! Additionally, turn on "Do Not Disturb" to block phone app notifications from appearing (like calendar, alarms, Find My, etc.). Lastly, if you plan to be out and about for a full day of adventuring, we recommend closing all open apps on your phone and just leaving the ProShotCase app open. This makes your phone's battery last all day no problem! 
While our app is programmed to keep your phone display screen always on, as a back-up, we recommend turning your phone display's "Auto-Lock" to Never. This ensures your screen remains on until you manually lock it. You can adjust this in your phone's Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock set to NEVER. If "Never" is grayed out, turn off Low Power Mode (Settings > Battery > Power Mode > Low Power Mode turn to OFF).
We also recommend turning your phone's brightness all the way up to 100% so you can easily see your screen above water and underwater in all conditions. Additionally, we recommend changing the following two phone settings to stop your screen from dimming automatically (even with brightness all the way up). In your phone's settings, follow these two steps:
--- Turn "True Tone" Off: Settings → Display & Brightness → True Tone → Turn OFF
--- Turn "Auto-Brightness" Off: Settings → Accessibility → Display & Text Size → Auto-Brightness → Turn OFF
If you wish to take both vertical and horizontal photos and videos, ensure that your phone's orientation isn't locked vertically. You can check if your phone's orientation is locked in the top right pull down menu on your phone → find the Lock Icon with a circle arrow around it and make sure it's not on (highlighted) if you want your phone to rotate horizontally when physically turned.

ProShotCase App Setting Tips:
In the ProShotCase app, only activate the camera modes you wish to use before each adventure. You can turn on/off all Camera Modes in your app's Settings > Select Camera Modes. We recommend only activating the camera modes you want to use before each use, to save time underwater toggling between camera modes.
If using a ProShot Touch Case (with touchscreen access), we 100% recommend turning on "Underwater Mode" in the ProShotCase App's Settings to disable the phone's touchscreen. The app's Settings icon will remain clickable. Underwater Mode ensures your app only responds to the volume button controls while underwater. If this mode isn't turned on in your app, your phone will act sporadically underwater due to water running over the case's touch film, which will interact with your phone's touchscreen without you even touching it! 
If you're about to use your case near the water's surface on a bright sunny day (especially with sun directly overhead), then we recommend turning on Bright Sun Mode in your app's Settings. This will display a black bar behind your camera mode names on your camera screen so you can see the mode names more easily in sunny conditions.

Phone Prepping & Inserting into Case Tips:
Clean your phone's camera lens and ProShotCase camera window! You'd be surprised how dirty/oily our phone's camera lenses get over time. We recommend using the included microfiber cleaning cloth to gently wipe your phone's camera lens (including the selfie camera lens if you plan to use that camera too), along with the outside of the ProShotCase's camera lens window before each use. If you're using a Red Filter, wipe that clean too! Each Red Filter comes in its own microfiber drawstring bag to help with cleaning. 
Make sure your hands are dry before inserting your phone into the ProShotCase. Any water droplets on the phone inside a closed ProShotCase will create condensation/fog inside the case. If you get a drop of water on the phone before closing it inside a case, make sure to dry the phone off with the microfiber cloth (included in every travel case) before inserting it into the case.

Is your app not responding as you'd expect?

Accepted Answer

If your app isn't acting as expected or responding slower than usual, try this quick fix to remove any bugs it may be encountering:

1) Delete the 'ProShotCase' app from your phone 
2) Restart your phone completely while the app is deleted
3) Re-download the 'ProShotCase' app to your phone and try using it again
